When we are young, we think
we know everything that there is need to know about life. But as years pass and
time unfurls the surprises it hides within its sleeves, we realize that there’s
a world of difference between thinking that we know all about life and actually
living it.
I was in grade school when I
first heard the line, “No man is an island.” I sort of scoffed at it because as
an only child, I was used to being alone. “I can be an island”, or so I thought.
Now, years and years after,
I realize how ignorant I was. Life is full of heartaches, joys, struggles,
pleasures, pains, triumphs, worries, and even boring moments – which,
strangely, are best shared with other souls.
I absolutely cannot be an
island. It is dumb to even think that it is possible to be one.
I need God, I need a family,
I need friends. And if it’s not asking too much, I need a caring community
around me.
Which brings me to what I
want to do – to create old-fashioned communities where members care for one
another and share what they can to a comrade in need.
This I cannot do if I were
an island.
I need you to keep with me.
Write, talk, read, ask, share, and discuss – be a part of the community we
dream of.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we
all try to face the challenges of our world, together?
